Shimla, Dec. 9: Celebrated the 660th Commemoration Day of Dölpopa Shérap Gyeltse, 25th Founding Anniversary Day of Jonang Takten Phuntsok Choeling Monastery and the first inauguration of Geshe degree were held at Jonang Takten Phuntsok Choeling Monastery in Shimla. The event, organized by the International Jonang Wellbeing Association.
His Holiness The Dalai Lama sent congratulation through video clip “ Today, Celebrating Commemoration Day of Dölpopa Shérap Gyeltse, He was an exceptional Tibetan Scholar and practitioner, he was also beyond the reach of the human intellect, he emphasised the sense objects of luminous nature of mind during the Second Wheel of Dharma and the object-possessor of luminous nature of mind during the Third Wheel of Dharma, later all Jonangpa followers have been engaged with his philosophical view, I always thought that Kunchen Dölpopa has such philosophical view. He was a Buddhist scholar who being learned has attained perfection, Normally, there are many debates on the emptiness of self and other emptiness, but we should avoid them and engage with the real philosophical view of Kunchen Dölpopa and practice with your own experience” His Holiness added.
His Holiness of Bon MenRi Trizin sent congratulations through video clips and motioned the importance of Jonangpa.
His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje also sent congratulations through audio message and introduced a brief history of Jonagpa, the differences of practices that have been kept at Jonang monasteries across the world, the experiences that been told during Jordruk Practice, (Six Unions. One of the Eight Great Chariots of the Practice Lineage embodying the pith instruction for the practice of Kalachakra) the historical relations between Jonangpa and Karma Kuju, the historical relationship between Jonangpa and Gelukpa and the gratefulness of Jonangpa.
His Holiness Sakya Trizin sent congratulations through video clips and mentioned the general Buddhism and Sakya lineages relation to Jonangpa in the history of Tibetan Buddhism.
H.E. Choekyi Nangpa Rinpoche also sent congratulations through a video clip, Rinpoche mentioned the brief history of the Jonangpa dates back to early time, the recent history of Takten Phuntsok Choeling Monastery and how Jonang is developing in India.
Congratulation letters from Gaden Tririnpoche, Drikung Kyabgon and other Tibetan Buddhist lineages, Jonang International Association President Lama Tsultrim Sangpo has been made the Introduction of the event. Cultural performances, book launching ceremony, addressed speeches from all Tibetan Buddhism lineages and songs offered by the delegates from Mongolia.
